In my last post I shared some photos of our road trip to Maine and for today I thought I'd put together a list of my favorite places in Portland. I hope this will be helpful to any of you who are planning on going to this beautiful New England city.
1. The Holy Donut
2. Cape Elizabeth
3. Farmers' Market
During the summer, the Portland Farmers' Market is every Wednesday and Saturday in Monument Square and Deering Oaks Park. I always enjoy strolling through markets and looking at all the colorful flowers, veggies and more.
4. The Lobster Shack at Two Lights
Maine is famous for delicious and fresh lobster and the Lobster Shack is the place to. It is also in Cape Elizabeth, not far from the Portland Head Light, and has the best Lobster Rolls and New England Clam Chowder ever. The bright red picnic tables are set up on a cliff between two lighthouses which makes for a beautiful view.
5. Breweries
Being from Germany my parents and I obviously had to check out Portland's vibrant brewery scene. Now, thanks to the American drinking age I wasn't able to actually try anything BUT my parents definitely approved of the beers and my fish 'n' chips and ginger beer were amazing as well :D
Let me know if you've ever been to Portland or are planning on going. I hope this little guide is helpful to you guys!
